daft punk live @ red rocks 7-31-07

ok, so it wasn't as life changing as i had imagined, but it was still pretty damn good...

i definitely fell victim to my own hyperbole, due in large part to a certain coachella live set and a few well-written reviews. essentially by the time the curtain was drawn for daft punk, i almost knew everything that was about to come, and still expected it to be life affirming - now that's alot of pressure to put on them french dudes.

however, (and this is the biggest however ever) that doesnt mean it wasn't a thoroughly enjoyable show that melted my brain, and had me dancing the entire time. nearly every aspect of the show killed: the aerodynamic edit of "one more time", the transition and overlap of "around the world" into "harder better faster stronger", the blinding light show, their light up suits, and of course, the off-the-chain encore which was replete with a thomas bangalter's remix and another cut of "one more time".

so i guess i dont know what im complaining about, other than that i didn't walk away from the show with my hands in my face in awe, and with an epiphany that answered all of life's answers - and really, thats completely my fault, nothing that daft did or didn't do - just simply that, for me, every move daft were going to and did employ, was so forewarned. bummer really, but what can you do? i can, however, only imagine what it was like seeing that same show @ coachella in 2006, with no expectations...probably, the mind blowing insanity i had envisioned!

oh, the rapture were pretty neat, but sebastian and kevinsky absolutely threw down...

ok, i am done now. read way better reviews of daft's recent tour here and here.
