well, kinda. not my house, but more like my back yard. shit, that's even exaggerating...but, i mean, red rocks is only like ten minutes from my house. ugh, so maybe it ain't as true as james murphey sings it, but tomorrow night i will be having my face blasted by none other than mother fuckin' daft punk (and the rapture, and sebastian and kavinsky...but how could that matter?).
its rare that im this excited for a show, but the hype is undeniable. just readin derek's review of their recent performance at the 02 festival was enough to induce a 36 inch boner and spine tingling. needless to say, im excited...
expect pics, a nice little review, and phrases like "life affirming" and "epic as fuck" to come soon.

oh. sidenote. m.i.a.'s newest is pretty bomb, but "jimmy" is the standout, easily one of the best ten tracks of the year. take a space oddessey on an indian carpet:

in a year of music such as 2007, where i have been on sensory overload since its start - bangin out to remixes, ampin up for a life affirming daft punk show, and searchin for any and every get-ur-groove-on track out there, finding time to slow down and breathe has been sparse. and because of this, i have gotten bored with good music; the kind that takes more than one listen to absorb...something i have taken for granted amidst my world of instant musical hooks and catches.
well, im glad i gave sea wolf's debut lp a second listen after i initially blazed thru it wanting nothing more than the next album i had on que in my itunes. but for some reason i went back and revisited leaves in the river, and boy if its not the biggest, pleasant suprise. at only 9 cuts it wastes no time wandering, just simple melodies, simple instrumentation - the kind that seep in, rapping its roots around you.
epitomizing this motif, is the aptly titled "the garden you planted" - a slow moving, lonely song about far-away-loves (something i can of course relate to), its tribulations, but the reassuring steadfastness in each other that must always be returned to:

thunderheist is droppin the jams in the wake of other "dirty indie rappers" (according to spin), such as spank rock, plastic little, and yo majesty but these guys dress up their raunchy rhymes with anthematic, and of course dancy, synth beats - bringing to mind the likes of ghostland observatory and miami horror. im done with the comparisons tho, shit's hot...
peep that club toppling intro beat and sleezy, albeit spotty, spanish flow - song translates to "candy dreams"...sounds about right:

vampire weekend is a band that''s already received its share of praise, but shit aint official until pabromb puts their stamp of approval on it, right? ha...
anyways, the four new york pop rockers are the freshest thing ive heard all summer. whether it be their infectious (har har, vampires) vocal hooks, afrobeat influences, or east coast drenched lyrics...these dudes have quite possibly dropped the best debut album of the year, right along side the shaky hands.
every tune on the ten song self titled album has somethin different to offer, but i cant stop spinnin "walcott" on the backside of the album. a relentless piano, gorgeous violin, and the cape cod summer blues (skeptical if they really exist) are all included. enjoy.

justice's single off its freshly-released album cross, "d.a.n.c.e", is one of the catchiest singles of the year (right behind the white stripe's "icky thump"), and the cornerstone to one of the year's best electronic albums. however, this mstrkft remix of "d.a.n.c.e" absolutely obliterates the original.
mstrkrft maintains in whole the original structure of the song, but juices it up just a bit with a wavy guitar synth, and a little more pep in that london kid's choir.
...and just in case u start listenin and aren't sold, wait until the 3:04 mark where the song flies outta control, unleashing an all out dance frenzy. enjoy.

it's been a pretty sweet year thus far in the realms of electronic music , or indietronic, or dancy music, or whatever the hell you call those beats that get you movin...heck, even joe has come around on the genre. anyways, calvin harris is one of the many to drop such an album this year, and im not gonna lie, its pretty fly.
shit, not only did he create disco, but he also gets all the girls. must be nice calvin.
